SELF PRESERVATION

And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

Sometimes our love for life, A.K.A. Self Preservation, can get in the way of what God wants to show us. I am a firm believer that God never tests us to see how we're doing, rather He tests us to enlighten us, as to where we are in relation to His will for our life.

Is there a wave of adversity in you life that you're "trying" to ride out? Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed, uncertain as to the outcome? I've got great news for you. Without sounding condescending, you're going to make it to "the other side. How do I know that? God's Word says so!

Now, as far as to the condition you'll arrive in once on "the other side", well, that's up to you. However, the circumstance(s), or the vehicle, by which you'll arrive is completely in God's hands.

Some of us are going to arrive on "the other side" all stressed out due to our poor choices, while others of us, by the grace of God, will arrive with a testimony in our hearts, and a praise on our lips. Still others, will arrive, as the Scriptures put it, "yet though as by fire."
1Co 3:15

So what makes the difference in how we'll arrive? ATTITUDE! One attitude say's to life's problems, "If I perish, I perish!"
Ester 4:16 The other attitude, and probably the most common of the two says, "Master, carest thou not that we perish?" Mark 4:38

One response is an explanation point (!), the other, a question mark (?). Which symbol represents your life today?

Allow me to leave with you today's passage, it comes from Mark 4. Please spend some time with the Holy Spirit today and allow Him to speak to the issues of your heart.

And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

May the God of all comfort and grace be with your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus the Lord
