Only Serious Need Apply

Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress - But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself     Dan 1:8 Ps 17:3

I am convinced that the trials that God llows to enter our lives are never intended exclusively for our use but for the benefit, consolation, and salvation of others

And whether we be afflicted it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer or whether we be comforted it is for your consolation and salvation. 2Cor 1:6

How important, how crucial is it them that we establish a standard in our lives by which we will respond to difficulty when it enters our life. I can already hear some of you saying, "That's Impossible! How can I predetermine before hand how I'm going to react to any given situation until I actually come face to face with it?

You may even point to Peter as part of your defense. Didn't Peter boldly declare to the LORD that he would follow Him anywhere, even if meant death? So what happened there? It sounded like Peter was pretty emphatic in his proclamation, was he not? How did Jesus go from in Peter's estimation, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God" to "I don't even know the man?"

Before I can answer that let's look at another event recorded in the third chapter of Daniel. Here we find three Hebrews, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who when confronted with the ultimate test, to choose between life or death, were not shaken or swayed from their faith in God. Let's take a look.

And Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image, which you have set up.
Daniel 3:16-18

So why is it that Peter buckled under pressure, but, the Hebrews were able to remain strong in their faith? I believe it was because Peter was led by his fleshly emotions, while the Three Hebrews responded with GODLY CONVICTION.

The Hebrews aren't the only examples we have to point to of people who lived their lives based on their Godly convictions. There's also:

Moses - Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God.
Heb 11:25

Joshua - As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Josh 24:15

Abraham -He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God
Rom 4:20

Job - Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
Job 13:15

Paul - But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may accomplish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus.
Acts 20:24

How about you? What is your bottom line when it comes to responding to difficulty? These brothers in the LORD were no different than you and I. In fact, when it comes to walking out our convictions, we probably have it a hundred times easier than they ever did. Oh, there be times when we fall short of our convictions, but, For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again, and again, and again, and again.

Pr 24:16

If you adopt a "wait and see attitude" when it come to responding to difficulty, you will fail miserably every time. Our difficulties, our trials must be met head on with GODLY CONVICTION. And our CONVICTIONS can only be as strong as is our OBEDIENCE to God.

It is our GODLY CONVICTIONS that will allow us to see clearly the truth about our trials, and that is our trials serve as a visible platform for God's power to be on display in our lives. Yes, each of us is on public display for a lost and dying world to view.

So what does all of this have to
do with being movie producers?

I'm glad you asked. 1Cor.4:9 say's that, "we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and to men." That word "spectacle" a place for public show ("theatre"), i.e. general audience-room; by implication, a show itself (figuratively):--spectacle, theatre.

Wow. How powerful! Talk about pressure - Talk about CONVICTIONS, Talk about blessing! You and I by means of our GODLY CONVICTIONS are producing or becoming "mini-movies" for the whole world to view.

What kind of RATING will you be labeling your production?

Godly Convictions.
