FACING TRIALS WITH AN ATTITUDE

We Must Face Our Trials With An ATTITUDE of Courage, With And Attitude of Trust, And With An Attitude of Love. Understanding how to face trials and testing is crucial to our spiritual well being. How do you typically respond to difficulty? Is you first response fear, or courage? There is no middle ground. How you respond will determine what is going to dominate your thinking. Pr 23:7

David shares with us concerning this very matter; When I
was troubled and complained my spirit was overwhelmed Psalms 77:3. Now contrast that to Israel who when confronted with life or death, choose to move out with courage. The outcome can be found in Psalms 78:53; And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

Two responses, two different out-comes. Responding in fear will always allow the enemy to overwhelm us, while responding in courage will always overwhelm the enemy. That's why we read in Josh 1:9; Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go

We Must Face Our Trials With An Attitude of Trust

How is this possible? Proverbs 3:5 say's; Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. And why not trust God for it can truly be said of Him, and only of Him that He worketh all things after the counsel of his own will Eph 1:11.

I think the biggest area that we as believers need to trust the LORD in, is in the area of our testing and trials. It's so easy when difficulty arises to think that God doesn't love us or that His hand is against us; but that's the furthest thing from the truth for we are promised that; The LORD will perfect that, which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth forever: forsake not the works of thine own hands (Ps 138:8). This leads me to the last and final point of To Face Our Trials.

We Must Face Our Trials With An Attitude of Love

1Corinthians 13:7 say's; love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things, (yes, even trials).

The word "bears" means to; "to roof over, (a "thatch" or "deck" of a building). Could it be that our trials, our difficulties, really serve as our spiritual covering? This is to say that the safest place we could be, the place of genuine blessing, is in the very midst of our trials. Wow! What a wonderful reality, our trials are our means of protection. I can think of a few examples right off the top of my head that will prove this point out. Let's see there is:

- Jonah in the whale.
- The Hebrews in the fire
- Noah in the ark.
- Joseph in jail.
- Daniel in the lion's den

Yes, in each and every one of these scenarios, these men's trials proved to be their salvation, their means of protection and deliverance. How about you? How do you see God's Hand at work in your life? How do you view your present situation?

I have shared with you How We Should Face Our Trials. I would like to close with, Why we can Face Our Trials With An Attitude of Courage, Trust, and Love.

TWELVE REASONS TO FACE DIFFICULTY WITH
COURAGE, TRUST, AND LOVE

1. OUR BENEFIT
Isa 38:17
Lo, it was for my welfare that I had great bitterness.

2. TO PRODUCE IN US A GENUINE FAITH
1Peter 1:6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while you may have to suffer various trials so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold which though perishable is tested by fire, may redound to praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ

3. THAT THE WORK OF GOD MIGHT BE ON DISPLAY
John 9:3 Jesus answered, "It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be made manifest in him.

4. AS AN EXAMPLE FOR OTHERS TO LOOK UP TO
James 5:10 As an example of suffering and patience, brethren, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

5. TO TEACH US WHAT WE ARE REALLY LIKE
Deut 8:2 And you shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not.

6. TO CAUSE US TO RELY SOLELY ON CHRIST
2Cor. 1:9 Why, we felt that we had received the sentence of death; but that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead;

7. TO PRODUCE A KNOWLEDGE BASED ON EXPERIENCE
Romans 8:28 We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose

8. TO PRODUCE FRUIT THAT WILL LAST
Romans 5:3 More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,

9. TO ACCRUE GREAT REWARDS IN HEAVEN
2Co 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

10. TO PURIFY US
1Peter 1:7 So that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold which though perishable is tested by fire, may redound to praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

11. FOR THE BENEFIT OF OTHERS
Phil 1:12 I want you to know, brethren, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, and most of the brethren have been made confident in the Lord because of my imprisonment, and are much more bold to speak the word of God without fear.

12. BECAUSE OTHERS ARE WATCHING AND LISTENING
2Co 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Acts 16:25 But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them
