Thy Will Be Done - PART III
Walking Circumspectly

And take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
redeeming the time, because the days are evil
Eph 6:17. 5:15

Being a success and walking circumspectly in this world is not one-in-the-same thing. In fact they are often diametrically opposed to each other. Jesus makes it emphatically clear that, No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon Luke 16:13

It is the person who walks circumspectly that knows when to cut his ties to the "world" that he may apply himself to an even higher calling, the Will of God. We are exhorted in Scriptures, And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

Jesus, understanding this principle, put it this way to His disciples in one of His classroom sessions with them. Concerning one's ambitions He stated, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful - Mark 4:19.

Did you know if Satan could be successful in attacking us in any one area of our lives it would be to cause us to either neglect the Word of God or doubt the Word of God. Apart from the Word of God we can neither know God's Will for our lives, or can we walk circumspectly. Speaking concerning His Word Jesus gives this counsel, Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have Lu 8:18.

It is in God's Word that we learn that our whole purpose for existing is to glorify God and to do His Will - Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments. I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law (Word) is within my hear. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Psa 119:73, 40:8, 1Cor 6:19,20

There is no higher goal that we can realize for our lives than submitting to the Will of God. And the only way we will accomplish this objective is to die totally to self - Jesus decalres, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me Lu 12:15 Lu 9:23.

How ironic. In a world where our lives are to revolve around God and where we are to stand out as lights, yet we see so many of those who would call them selves "Christians", trying coming up with their own plan for life. They create in their own thinking a "Jesus" who simply smiles upon on all that they do and "one" who will fit into their lifestyle and decisions.

Sadly, what happens as a result is that these very same people find their selves so entangled and obsessed with the desire for things that they scarcely have the time to develop meaningful relationships, let alone discover the true riches God has waiting for them. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him 1Co 2:9

Paul warns Timothy of this trap by instructing him, Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier 1Tim 1:1-4

What does all of this mean to you and me. Well, to the degree that we are willing to respond and submit ourselves to the Word of God in our lives, this will determine our success before the LORD. Listen to the following Scriptures and observe the importance of the Will of God as it relates to the Word of God.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success - Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path - Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts - Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food - But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay - Ps 119:11 Josh 1:8 Ps 119:105 Jer 15:16 Job 23:12 Jer 20:9

May God grant you wisdom and understanding as you:

THINK ON THESE THINGS ACT ON THESE THINGS

May God grant you His peace
