For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Mat 16:26

This question posed by the Creator Himself, though it be thousands of years old, and though it be one that many have tried to escape its specificity, yet the answer, or the lack of one, is the catalyst that will leave us at the entrance of one of two roads. Matthew describes these roads in vivid detail. One road we are told leads to life eternal the other to eternal destruction. There is no middle ground. Let's take a look.

"Enter in through the narrow gate, because wide [is] the gate and spacious [is] the way which leads to the destruction, and many are the ones entering in through it. How narrow [is] the gate and having been constricted [is] the way which leads to the life, and few are the ones finding it!" Likewise In Luke we read , " Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able." Luke 13:24, Mat 7:13,14

Why is it that few souls either find or enter this road that leads to The Life? Could the answer be that surrender is to high of a price to pay. There are those who would equate surrender to a life of servitude; and a life of servitude to a life of hardship; and a life of hardship to a life of misery. But what a warped opinion of the Creator this is. Jesus offer to the surrendered life, is an invitation to liberation and an opportunity to see first-hand what is possible through the eyes of the Eternal One.

In a world where prosperity is the common message coming from the modern day pulpit, the thought of surrender or that one would pray to be pruned ,"cut-back" is looked upon as a self pronounced curse. It is no wonder then why surrender is seen as a sign of weakness. But if we are to see God there must first come an absolute surrender of self. And it is in our surrender that we learn to trust God and that His strength is released in order that it might have free course in our lives. See John Chapter 15.

There is a flip-side to surrender and that is that God makes Himself and all that He is available to us. Think of it. The very life sustaining power that raised Jesus from the dead coursing through our bodies. Yes it is Jesus Himself that issues the ultimate invitation to the surrendered life. We read in Matthew 11:28,29; "Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls."
Outside of the surrendered life there is no rest.

Jesus (Yesuha) is the Door that leads to the Narrow Way. He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. So narrow is this Door that leads to life that in order for one to enter therein they must relive themselves of all that would weigh them down. If it were up to us to accomplish this our chances of "success" would be compared in Jesus own words, to that of the possibility of "a camel going through the eye of a needle" (Matthew 19:24).

Jesus tells us plainly the requirement for entering The Door and traveling the road that leads to The Life. "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it." Luke 9:23; 14:27 Lu 17:33

Are you ready to loose your life in order that you may find it? Matthew 16:25 reminds us of the stakes. "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. " Are you ready to yield your self totally to God? Are you ready to give up you own will, affections, renounce all that is of the world, and cease pursuing your own cause. We must follow the example of the One who emptied Himself and became obedient to the Father, even to the point of death? Php 2:5-8

Life is full of choices. And those choices will influence where we will spend eternity. Surrender to the Creator puts us on that road that leads to The Life. That Life is hid in Jesus (Yeshua). Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door..." John 10:17. No one can make this decision for you. Romans 6:16 declares, "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"

What are you willing to give in exchange for your soul? The Bible tells us, "No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." Luke 16:13. Do you truly want to experience a fruitful life? Do you truly want to be liberated to life a life that is genuinely successful? Only death to self will bring this about. John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
