Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned in whatsoever state I am therewith to be content - And having food and raiment let us be therewith content - Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have for he hath said I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Php 4:11, 1Ti 6:8, Heb 13 KJV

Today's Devotional was selected from another source. I trust you will be blessed by it, as was I. If I could encourage you with anything today, it would to be to say, set your hope and focus totally on the LORD. We are here to display His Glory. We don't have the luxury of getting side-tract chasing after the things of this world and the inclinations of our own hearts.

REMEMBER this - We are complete in Him - Col 2:10. To reach out to anything other than Him to find meaning and purpose in our lives is to tear this truth from the tablets of our hearts and the pages of the Bible . And who is sufficent to do that!

Here then is theDevotion

This is what the Lord has said: Take your place looking out on the ways; make search for the old roads, saying, Where is the good way? And go in it that you may have rest for your souls. But they said, we will not go in it
Jer 6:16 - BBE

1. Stand (tarry) at the crossroads and look."
In a time of turmoil, our minds race ahead to think of all that could happen in the future. We ask ourselves lots of "what if" questions and frequently fall victim to unfounded worry. To "stand" means to turn our mind from its troubling thoughts of the future and to focus on God. It is similar to being at an intersection with signs pointing many different ways. We wait until we know which direction the trial is heading.

2. "Ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is."
The road of trouble has been well traveled by the saints of the faith, and their footsteps have made it into a path of glory to God. Meditate on the cries of King David in the Psalms or on the prayers of others in the Bible. Ponder their responses as well as the way they reveal their faith and trust in God even while suffering greatly. Accept the Spirit's revelation of the ancient path of faith and the good way of trust. Then pray for courage to walk those paths as Jesus did.

3. "Walk in it and you will find rest for your souls."
With eyes firmly fixed on our Savior, resolve to walk down this road of suffering in a way that is honoring to Him. Draw deeply on the Holy Spirit's strength for the next step, and seek to be obedient in thought, word, and deed. You will discover that as you follow Him, sweet, soul-satisfying rest will be found. -CW
