For I know the thoughts that I think toward you
saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil,
to give you an expected end
. JEREMIAH 29:11

So what do I mean by shock proofing your walk. Well let me share with you an illustration Jesus used during one of His training sessions when He was with His disciples.

But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful
[Matthew 13:20-22]

And now consider these Scriptures as well

These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended and that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

(John 16:1, John 16:33, 1 Peter 4:12, Isaiah 41:10, Philip. 1:28)

It is very clear form these passages that it is the heart of Jesus for us NOT TO BE taken out by our trials. Yet having said that, it is not in His will to make our trials magically disappear. Instead it is His desire for us to triumph over them. In fact we are reminded that God would have all His children to be TRIUMPHANT CONQUERORS.

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us [Romans 8:37 2 Cor. 2:14]

When Moses charged his fellow Israelites by rehearsing before them all the wonderful things that was waiting for the taking, notice their response. And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.
(Exodus 6:9)

What happened as a result was that this generation of Israelites, the ones who allowed their fears to overwhelm them, did not receive the promises of God neither did they enter into the rest God had prepared for them. What about you? Are you discouraged, finding it difficult to move forward due to some trial in your life? Know this, Jesus does not require you to go anywhere He has not already been.

For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? But if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
(1 Peter 2:20-23)

So the question is, are you willing to see and respond to your circumstance as Jesus did and that is by entrusting yourself to the ONE who judges fairly? In fact this is the first and most crucial step in shock proofing your walk with the LORD.

Once again this is going to be a progressive devotion. Please join me next time as we continue to look ways we can Shock Proof our walk with the LORD. Until we meet again please be encouraged and know this, God loves you so very, very much. And guess what? HE'S ON YOUR TEAM! Isn't that powerful?

If God is for us who or what can be against us.
