Text We Will Be Considering
brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this,
that the TRYING of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her
perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing - Who
are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed
in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice though now for a season, if need
be ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the TRYING of
your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth though it be
tried with fire, might be found unto the praise and honour and glory at
the appearing of Jesus Christ. (James 1:2-4; 1Peter 1:5-7 )
we are told come to refine our faith, that is to make it more sincere. Similarly,
trials come that they might purify the motives and desires of our hearts. Additionally,
trials, if endured satisfactorily, are the means by which God uses to place His
stamp of approval our faith.
see then that not only do our trials come from the Hand of God, but so does the
approving of our faith. After all it is God's approval we earnestly desire, and
not man's. The Hebrew defines the word TRYING as; (a testing, an experience/ experiment,
a proving, TO BE OF REPUTATION.")
could say then that our reputation is closely related to our faith. And since
our faith is so precious to GOD, and since HE places such a GREAT value on our
faith, it only stands to reason that GOD is going to use GREAT trials to test
of the reasons God allows our faith to come under such intense fire is that HE
is forging a people whom the world can look upon as having a reputation of loving
God in spite of their circumstances. You see, we live in a world which is made
up of people who are "visually" stimulated. They don't want to hear
about our faith; they want to see it in action. You and I allow them that opportunity
as we humbly submit ourselves to God during our times of difficulty and testing.
about your faith. Is it dependant upon GOD having to answer each and every prayer
of yours? Or is your faith resting in the character and sovereignty of a loving
and caring GOD? Do you have the kind of faith that welcomes hardships with open
arms knowing that God is looking out for your best interest?
is the one who conducts their self nobly during times of testing who will find
GOD placing HIS stamp of approval on their faith. The result of such proving by
GOD becomes to those who are tested by HIM an evident token of their salvation
(See Phil 1:28). What does it mean to be approved? It means as "approved"
individuals we have therefore been introduced to testing, have gone through that
testing, which by the way the Bible calls the fiery furnace of affliction (See
James 1:12 & Romans 16:10), and have come out on the other end to the praise,
honor and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ (1Peter 5:7-9).
if what surfaces as a result of our faith having been tested proves to be unsatisfactory,
then our faith is said to be lacking. Well, what happens if we fail in the process
of being tested? Does it mean that God no longer loves us? No! (See Romans 8:28)
Does it mean God is angry with us? No! (See Ps 103:8) Does it mean that God is
finished with us and we're all washed up? No, No, a thousand times NO! (See Php
we need to remember in all of this is that we are going through a process of BECOMING.
Please remember that word, it will save you from a lot of self condemnation and
discouragement for having "failed." We are not perfect yet. Failure
is inevitable this side of Heaven. God understands this for we are reminded; "For
he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust" (See Psa 103:14).
think one of the most incredible truths in all of this is that God Himself promises
to be with us during the entire length of this shaping process (See Dan Chapter
3 & Matt. 11:28). So the next time when the testing(s) begin and the heat
gets turned up don't be alarmed! Know this that God respects us so much that HE
is treating us on the same level as HE did HIS very own SON.
Are you looking at your circumstances with an ETRENAL PERSPECTIVE? This is what
God is trying to achieve in our lives during times of testing. So the question
is, Are you going to allow GOD to have HIS way with you, right now, right where
you are? Shine for GOD today! Let those around you see that your faith in GOD
is a living faith.
