I write these things to encourage those of you who are going through pain. You don't have to be discouraged or overwhelmed. There is a way of eacape that "you may be able to bear it." In fact you can take heart because GOD does not take your situation lightly. As the Sovereign Creator of this universe He knows all about what you're struggling and is moved.

"Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?" Ref 1Pet 4:19

When going through pain it is imperative that we do not question the intent of the eternal and immutable characteristics of our Lord that set Him distinctly apart as God. And the ONE essential truth of the Scriptures that our enemy the Devil would have us question, especially when we're in pain, (a time when we are most likely to be inadequate to deal with the present stresses), is Gods' love for us.

You can almost hear him wisper in your ear, "If God loves you so much then why is He allowing this "____________" and I'm sure could fill in the blank, to happen to you? I am so glad that with God there is not variableness or shadow or turning. Listen to what the Scriptures declare of the Lord's love for us.

The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing...The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee...But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.... AMEN AND AMEN Ref: Zep 3:17, Jer 31:1, Eph 2:4, 2Thess 2:16,17 1Jo 4:9 kjv

The truth is that being in pain is not an indicator that God loves you any less. In fact, it is during these times you can be assured that God is even more near, and has a personal interest and concern for your well-being. "Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling."
ref Isa 51:22

This reminds me of Israel's predicament during their enslavement in Egypt. Talk about pain, agony, mistreatment, and physical abuse. They were in such despair, surely God had forgotten them, was angry with them, and better yet, out to show them a lesson. But, (which happens to be my favorite word in the Bible) listen to these words of love that God instructs Moses to deliver to His people.

"And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them." ref: Exodus 3:7 - How true the statement Jeremiah has exclaimed, "HIS BANNER OVER ME IS LOVE!"

What's so different about God's love? I'm so glad you asked. The greatest aspect of God's love is that it is a HOLY LOVE. That's what sets His love apart from any other "love" we'll ever experience. Not to mention that God's love is unmerited, is from everlasting to everlasting, and incomprehensible. But there is even more to God's love and that is, NOTHING CAN SEPARATE US FROM IT, not even pain!

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
ref: Ro 8:35,37-39

The fact is God's love is so unexplainable, especially in the light of our own depravity, that it takes the power of prayer and the on-going, sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit not only to reveal it to us but also to enable us to grow in it.
"That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God" ref:
Eph 3:16-19 kjv

I think we cheat ourselves out of the comfort that might otherwise be ours in our time of need because we do not take our pain seriously. Instead we look at our situation as something undeserving, inconvenient, extremely unpleasant, and as a "necessary evil" to be put up with for the moment. But I want to encourage you not to contend with God while you're going through pain. "We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain."
ref: 2Corinthians 6:1

Let the Creator lavish His love upon you while He takes this time to reveal His will to you. Let your focus and attention be on Him, and not your pain. And you can't say to me, "o, that's easy for you to talk about, dan." You see, I'm in pain 24/7! Yet this too has become one of the graces that God has allowed to enter my life that I might appreciate Him better and the sacrifice He made for me on the cross.

Remember, God will and is able to make all grace abound.

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. ref:1Pe 5:102Th 3:3
