according to his will, he heareth us.
blessed we are to have prayer as a part of Kingdom living. Moses gave no command
or regulation when it came to prayer and the Prophets said little about it. But
Jesus having opened for us a new and living way, it is imperative that we have
a secret place to meet with Him in prayer, where we can be taught. The "inner
chamber" is that place. Therefore, that place can be anywhere and is not
bound by time, circumstance, or surroundings.
to your Father, Your Father will reward you, Your Father knows, these were the
very words of Jesus as He addressed the subject of prayer in the Sermon On The
Mount. The fist thing in closet praying is to meet the Father. Each word that
we breath out should be based on a simple childlike dependency and trust in Father.
Do we have a proper understanding of what the Father like? This is what Jesus
would reveal to us in prayer.
11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity;
but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also
shalt be cut off.
3:21-26 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD'S mercies
that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every
morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore
will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul
that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for
the salvation of the LORD.
we pray the Son brings us into the Father's presence. Entire separation for all
that would distract us is the reason for closet praying. "The secrecy of
the inner chamber, the entire separation from everything around us, is an image
of the inner spiritual sanctuary.
"If we are taken up with our own thoughts
and desires in prayer we will never meet the Unseen One. That is why we are instructed
to hope and quietly wait before the Lord. In secret, it is here that the Father
waits for us, and it is there we will find Him.
first thoughts in prayer must be that our Father is already waiting for us in
Isa 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will
answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. Jer 33:3 Call unto me, and
I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest
we may enter our prayer chamber boldly and confidently, looking intently and expectantly
into the Father's face, knowing He will receive us. Heb 4:16 Let us therefore
come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace
to help in time of need. Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter
into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. Yes we can come before our Father and
wonderful it is for us to be able to call the Creator of this world, Father! Yes
even when we have sinned, the Father waits with loving arms to both pardon and
Hosea 14:2,4 Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away
all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.
I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned
away from him.
prayer will not go unnoticed by the Father. This kind of prayer comes with a promise,
God will bless us openly. Do you have this kind of confidence? All God asks for
is childlike faith that is totally dependent on Him. A lack of confidence can
only mean that we have not quietly waited before the Father. 1Jo 5:14 And this
is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to
his will, he heareth us. Isa 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace;
and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
do not need to twist God's arm in prayer, He knows what we have need of. This
is really a testimony to the intimate love that the Father has for us, that He
God would know us so well as to be familiar with what concerns us. Ps 84:11 For
the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good
thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Our Father sees. Our Father
hears. Our Father knows. Ex 3:7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction
of my people, and have heard their cry, for I know their sorrows.
