WITH A PRICE
only were we created by GOD but it is He who continues by HIS word to uphold all
things.Hebrews 1:3 states. "Who being the brightness
of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by
the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the
right hand of the Majesty on high"
GOD was not the Faithful GOD that HE is, all things would cease to live or exist.
It is through HIS Name that we have life. "For in him
we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have
said, For we are also his offspring. Also in we are told, In this was manifested
the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the
world, that we might live through him." Ac 17:28 1John 4:9
would fall into nothing in a moment, if he did not every moment bear them up.
So that all things on this account have still their being from him every moment,
and their well-being too, and all the means which conduce to it; and therefore
all are his own." David Clarkson.
WE ARE ALSO THE LORD'S BY THE
PRICE THAT HE PAID TO HAVE US.
Forasmuch as ye know that
ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain
conversation received by tradition from your fathers. But with the precious blood
of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 1Peter 1:18
NOTE when it says we are bought with a price, Nothing else could or would have
done this. There was no price which we as sinners, alienated from GOD could pay
to atone for our iniquities. Consequently, if Christ had not died in our place,
on HIS cross, we would have forever been the slave of sin, and held captive under
Satan's dominion and authority, forever and hopelessly lost.
being bought with the blood of Christ, we are not our own; we have became His
permanent possession. And in so taking our punishment, He has called us to a life
of obedience. In 1Peter 1:2 we read, "Elect according
to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit,
unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and
peace, be multiplied."
must accept the LORD in His entirety. Not only as our High Priest who ever lives
to atone and make intercession for us, but as the LORD and Despot of our very
lives. And being bought with a price we are not to become the servants of men
We read; "No servant can serve two masters:
for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the
one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Ye are bought with
a price; be not ye the servants of men." Lu 16:13 1Co 7:23
we are bought with a price and therefore we should be at His disposal, to live,
to walk, to talk, to conduct our lives as He so directs. God has the sole rights
and priority to our affections. Therefore we are commanded to, De 11:1 states,
"Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep
his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway."
